7 compelling reasons your business needs video on its website

Are you using video on your website? If you’re not, you’re missing a trick. What about your competitors? Are they getting the benefits of video while you’re missing out? If you’re unsure what benefits it could bring you, here are our top seven reasons to use video on your site:

1. It’s what customers want.

Research by Animoto showed four times as many customers prefer to watch a video about a product than reading about it. Most people are time-poor and cannot wade through pages of text about each product they view. In fact, 43% of people told them they wanted to see more videos from marketers.

2. You can educate your customers.

Four out of five people say demonstration videos are helpful to them. Plus, people who watch video of products are almost twice as likely to buy than those who don’t, Animoto found. That’s not surprising. People can quickly see features which are relevant to their lives in a video. They can visualise how your products benefit them. More than half of smartphone users look favourably on businesses which provide instructional videos, research by Google showed.

3. It’s a great return on investment.

Adobe found that more than half of marketers across the world named video as the medium with the best ROI in marketing. Video boosts brand awareness, lead generation, and online engagement. Adobe’s research discovered the average conversion rate for a website with video is 4.8% compared to 2.9% without video content. It also found conversion took 27% fewer unique visits, so the average cost of acquisition per lead was £60 for businesses using video, £74 for those which did not.

4. It helps to grow revenue.

Adobe found those marketers who used video grew their business revenues almost 50% faster than those who did not.

5. It helps spread the word on social media.

Research by Buffer found visual content is 40 times more likely to be shared than non-visual content. Every day, people watch 100 million hours of video on Facebook alone, TechCrunch found. On Twitter, 82% of users watch video, with nine out of ten video views being watched on mobile devices.

6. It can drive online and physical footfall.

Google discovered that almost half of those who use the internet are looking for videos of a service or product before they go to a store. That could be an online marketplace or a real-world shop, bar, restaurant, or hotel.

7. It tells your story.

People buy from people. Your business may have a great story to tell – one of a family-run business, of innovation against the odds, or of commitment to a community. All these stories build strong connections with your potential customers, making them more likely to choose your business over your competitors. A well-made video tells your story in a powerful way.

So, why you waiting? It’s time to embrace video on your website!
